Digging Deep
The Empire State Building, The Sears/Willis Tower, The World Trade Center, The Burj Kalifa, the list goes on. These and other tall buildings are known for their ability to scrape the sky with their height and impressive engineering. Yet their success is not based on how tall they are. Why, you ask? Because great things can only climb as high as they are willing and able to go deep. Let me illustrate.
The current tallest building in the world is the Burj Kalifa in Dubai, UAE. It is 2,722 feet tall. That is just over one half a mile in height. However, in order to build the tallest building in the world, the engineers and designers had to choose to go deep before they could go up. The building’s foundation is an impressive 164 ft deep and took almost 60,000 cubic yards of concrete. That’s enough concrete to pave an interstate for 100 miles.
In life, things get tough. We want to reach for the sky and achieve our goals. What we sometimes don’t realize is that in order to reach that sky we must dig in deep and have a strong foundation that will allow us to succeed. The same way you don’t just throw up a sky scraper, your dreams and goals will not be met by accident. It must be intentional. We must dig deep when things get hard, we must prepare a foundation that withstand the wind and keep our building standing when the hard times come.
In reaching your goals, don’t forget to dig deep. Work hard to find a strong and secure foundation with good habits, wise counsel, and thoughtful hard work to reach for the sky. You've got this. We’re here to help!
