Take Off the Mask
Are you faking it? When someone asks you how you’re doing, do you put on the “I’m good” mask? Do you even realize you’re wearing a mask? Often “I’m good” is the answer given when we don’t want to think about what’s really going on in our lives.
Here’s an “I’m good” check:
- Are you doing basically the same thing weekend after weekend?
- When was the last time you had something to look forward to?
- Would you say you’re excited about life or just existing in life?
- Have your routines turned into ruts?
If your weekends are routine, you haven’t had anything to get excited about, or you feel like you’re going through the motions of life, then “I’m good” probably means “I’ve settled” or “I’m stuck in life’s rut.”
What’s holding you back? That answer is probably YOU. If you’re reading this, the odds are pretty good your employer is providing personal coaching with DREAM4 since I’m writing this for our monthly coaching blog.
You have choices. Keep wearing the “I’m good” mask and your life will probably stay on its current course. Or have a conversation with a coach. Explore different paths, options, and opportunities. Find a reason to get excited about life again. Take off the mask. Make a different decision. Change your life’s direction.
